Preparing Your Freight For Delivery

Preparing your items for delivery is a must - Below are some helpful tips to ensure your items are safe and secure.
Satchels or small parcels
If you are sending small items, envelopes and documents use satchels to keep them clean and make them easy to spot during transit.
Fragile items should be protected by some padding.

Individually wrap if multiple items
If you’re sending a number of items in one box, satchel, containers, wrap them individually to carefully ensure they do not damage during transit. You can use padding between all items and in the container.

Secure fragile items
If you have an item that might be sensitive to vibrations or shock, ensure it is very well padded and protected from any chance of bumping the container walls.
Don’t forget to label the item as fragile so that the our drivers know to take extra special care of your delicate item.
Heavy items
Ensure you have extra padding around the items to secure it in its place. This will prevent heavy items being damaged by or causing damage to the carton or box.
Carefully pack awkward and metal goods.
If your item is unusually, or potentially dangerous or has parts sticking out, sharp corners or is made from metal, it must be very carefully packed, padded and secured in its container. This will keep your goods safe and secure from accidental damage.

Evenly stack and secure pallets
Items on a pallet need to be evenly stacked and secured by shrink wrapping, strapping or banding.

Protect polished surface items
If your item has a shiny finish or polished surface, use lots of soft padding so it doesn’t scratch from movement or by rubbing against the carton, nails, staples and other
​
Foam-pack computers and electronic goods
Polystyrene foam moulds are great and pack items safely and securely fitting boxes or cartons.

Ensure packages are clearly labelled
labelling each item clearly means it can be quickly identified and keeps handling to a minimum.

Use commercial quality tape
Using quality tape prevents your container from bursting open during transit.
